Getting here is straightforward — Bowen is a small coastal town with a compact foreshore area, and the beach is central enough that you won't be hunting for it. The foreshore location means you're not facing a long carry from wherever you park. The water runs shallow and warm, which makes the learning curve a little more forgiving for those still building confidence, and means you're not dealing with serious cold-water gear considerations even mid-winter. When the SE trades kick in — typically May through October — expect side-onshore conditions in the 15–25 knot range. The NE-facing aspect means the wind arrives at an angle that keeps the kite power manageable without pushing you straight downwind into difficulty. The shallow water helps keep chop in check on most trade days, and the warm temperature makes extended sessions comfortable.
