About Perobas

Perobas sits on the northeastern tip of Brazil in Rio Grande do Norte, south of São Miguel do Gostoso, on a stretch of coast that catches the full reach of the Atlantic SE trade winds. Getting here takes some commitment — the road turns to dirt track before you reach the beach — but that rough final stretch is exactly what keeps the place quiet when other spots along the regional circuit are filling up. The beach is wide and open, with room to rig and launch without negotiating around a crowd or tangling lines with another rider. The SE trades blow side-onshore here, giving you a clean kite window for launching and landing and keeping your sessions running parallel to the beach rather than pushing you straight out to sea — a natural advantage when you are reading a new spot. From August through November those trades arrive with real consistency in the 15–25 knot range, enough to comfortably power most intermediate and advanced riders, and strong enough on the upper end to demand some thought about kite selection. The side-onshore angle and reliable pressure make this a natural fit for freeride and freestyle. With few other kiters around, you can stretch out a downwinder along the beach without threading through other riders, and the consistent trade window means the forecast rarely lets you down once the season is running. The one thing that demands genuine attention here is reef at low tide. It sits close enough to the launch area to be a real factor — not close enough to make the spot unrideable, but close enough that you need to know exactly where it is before you hit the water. Before your first session, walk the waterline when the tide is fully out and map what is exposed relative to your launch point and likely exit lines. Timing your sessions around mid-to-high tide removes most of the exposure. Facilities at the beach: none. No kite schools, no rental shops, no food or water on site. You are self-sufficient or you go without. Bring your own water, tools, and a repair kit, and strongly consider riding with a buddy — there is no one on the beach to help if something goes wrong on the water. São Miguel do Gostoso is your nearest town for supplies and logistics before you head out on the dirt track. Quiet, consistent, and a little off the main circuit — Perobas is worth the rough approach for a rider who has the basics dialled and can respect the tide.
