The point at Salinas del Rey is the defining feature. On the windward side it generates 2-metre barrelling waves — proper surf that rewards commitment and kite control under pressure. Swing into the protected lee and the picture changes entirely: flat water sheltered enough for freestyle, unhooking, and technical riding. Same beach, two sessions available depending on where you point your board. Getting there from Barranquilla takes about 45 minutes. Santa Veronica is a small coastal community — arrive with fuel, cash, and realistic expectations for a working kite beach rather than a resort. The wind runs Northeast trade, 20–35 knots across the primary season from January through April. A second window opens June through August with similar conditions. The angle is side-onshore, which keeps launch manageable and gives you a working upwind angle on the way out with a reasonable line back to the beach. The usable kite window spans roughly 255° through to 45°. On the water, the range is wide. Intermediates can work the fringes of the swell and build wave-riding skills in a genuine environment without committing to the full barrel. Advanced riders head out to the point for the 2-metre sets that put this spot on the World Tour map. The flat-water section in the lee is its own environment — clean surface for technical riding when the conditions are right. Skill level is honestly intermediate to advanced. The power range in the 20–35 kt band is real, and the wave section on the outside demands solid kite handling before you commit. This is not a spot to sort out fundamentals — but if your body-dragging is there and you want to progress in meaningful conditions, Salinas del Rey will push you. Two kite schools operate here: Kitesurfing Colombia and Villa Kite, covering lessons and local guidance on conditions. Casa Gracia Beach handles accommodation. Libelula Azul covers food. It's a lean setup that fits the spot's character: high on conditions, honest about infrastructure.
