About Curium Site / Paramali

Curium Site sits at the foot of Cyprus's most dramatic coastal bluff — a south-facing beach wedged beneath the limestone cliffs that carry the ancient Curium amphitheatre on their crest. The setting is hard to match on the island: cliffs behind you, open sea ahead, and a ruin-topped headland framing the whole picture. Scenic is an understatement. Getting here from Limassol means heading west along the coastal road toward Episkopi Bay. The beach sits below the cliff line, so reaching the water involves a descent. Once you're down, the launch area is beach-based, though it narrows significantly at high tide — the workable sandy section at the base opens up properly at low water. Check the tide before you leave; arriving to a high-tide squeeze at a cliff spot is not the ideal start to a session. Wind fills in from the W to NW during the afternoon, typically running 14–22 knots. The usable arc covers 90°–270°, so the spot works across a broad range from E through S to W, but the best sessions come with a solid westerly or northwesterly. When the NW strengthens, Curium delivers real swell off the open fetch and becomes a legitimate wave spot. In lighter W or NW conditions, expect sea-state chop in front of the cliff face rather than clean lines. Flat water this is not. The launch is the defining challenge here and the main reason this spot is advanced-only. Cliff terrain means rigging and kiting up with less margin than an open beach. Scout the area before you unpack, identify your abort zones upwind and down, and have an experienced hand on the beach for launch and landing. Get this part right and the session that follows is genuinely rewarding. On the water: uncrowded, open, and worth the effort. Riders who make the trip typically get the spot largely to themselves. In strong NW conditions you'll find wave faces to work; in moderate conditions it's a choppier free-ride environment with the Curium headland as a backdrop that makes the whole thing feel a world apart from the busier spots closer to Limassol.
