KiteSurf and WindSurf sits on the Aquitaine Atlantic coast, part of the long unbroken stretch of sandy beach that defines the Landes shoreline — wide open beach backed by pine forest and dune, facing directly into the Atlantic. Westerly and south-westerly winds arrive clean and unobstructed here, which is the whole point. Getting there follows the pattern of most Landes spots: departmental roads through pine forest, then parking behind the dunes. The dune crossing to the beach is straightforward with gear, though it pays to check your kite before cresting the ridge — wind can be gusty at the top. The beach itself is wide at low tide, giving a generous setup area. At high tide the usable sand narrows, so if you're rigging a large kite, timing to low tide is worth it. The wind arc covers south all the way around through west to north — the full Atlantic sector. The dominant pattern in summer is south-westerly thermals that build through the afternoon once the land heats. Mornings can be lighter or patchy; by early afternoon the breeze typically fills in with more consistency. Gustiness can vary through the sea-breeze cycle, so watching conditions for an hour before launching is a better investment than rigging on optimism. The water is open Atlantic: expect chop, occasional swell, and shore break that varies with tide and conditions. Riders comfortable with swell will find the fetch to the west delivers long, clean runs and plenty of air opportunity downwind. It adds complexity for beginners working on water starts — the shore break in particular demands respect. Intermediate and advanced riders are in their element; this is not a flat-water learning lake. The kite school on site — KiteSurf and WindSurf — is a genuine asset. The team reads these conditions daily, and a quick conversation before you rig can tell you what the tide is doing and whether the wind is filling in cleanly or cycling. Equipment rental is available if you're travelling light. For newcomers to the spot or to Atlantic beach launches generally, booking through the school makes sense. After the session, the local food scene punches above its weight for a beach stop. Beginners are well-served through the on-site school. The combination of reliable south-westerly thermals, on-site instruction, and solid post-ride infrastructure makes this a well-rounded stop on the Aquitaine coast.
