The Gästehaus Heerens occupies a protected historic building in central Emden as part of the Upstalsboom hospitality group. Originally constructed in 1870 as a hotel with integrated stables for horse trading, the property evolved into one of the city's premier guest accommodations. Despite extensive wartime destruction in the region, the building survived and underwent comprehensive restoration to harmonize historic architectural elements with modern amenities.
