About Kiteshop Saal

Saal is a small coastal settlement on Germany's northeastern Baltic shore in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, an area that has accumulated enough kite infrastructure to mark it clearly on the regional circuit. Three kite schools operate here — Kitemafia, Kiteshop Saal, and Supreme Surfbus Surf- und Kiteschule — which tells you this spot has an established local scene rather than a handful of kiters who found a beach one summer. Southerly winds are out of the window entirely, so on those days you are looking at another spot. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's coastline is defined by a contrast between the open Baltic foreshore and the sheltered Bodden lagoon systems that sit behind it — flat, protected water on one side, modest Baltic chop on the other. Without knowing exactly which section is in play on any given day, the local schools are your best call for current conditions and which stretch of beach is live. They will also know the local etiquette and any access restrictions in force. If you are learning, the presence of multiple schools means good availability and some choice on instructors. In a small coastal village, options tend to be limited, so knowing it is there before you arrive is useful. Baltic water temperatures are significantly colder than Atlantic spots at the same latitude — plan wetsuit thickness accordingly, and outside peak summer a hood becomes worth considering. Getting here means rural Mecklenburg-Vorpommern roads; give yourself time if the car is loaded with kite bags. The pace here is quieter than the crowded North Sea circuit — that is part of the appeal if you are after a proper session without a beach full of spectators.
