About Benaulim Beach

Benaulim Beach sits near the southern end of Goa's coastline, well removed from the busier northern beaches that most visitors reach first. The approach takes you through quiet South Goa roads, and the beach itself reflects that — wide, flat, and genuinely uncrowded on most days. This is not a scene beach. It's a place where you can lay out your lines without negotiating space with sunbathers, and that alone makes it worth considering if you're early in your progression. The kiting season runs November through March, driven by NW and NNW winds that arrive side-onshore at this stretch. Speeds typically sit in the 10–18 knot range, which keeps conditions manageable rather than demanding. That side-onshore angle is a useful one: enough onshore component to give you a clear path back to the beach, enough of a cross element that you're not driving straight into breaking surf. The water is shallow chop with occasional small waves — nothing steep or technical. Body drags, water starts, and early jibes all happen here without the kind of punishment you'd get in more exposed conditions. For learners, the combination of uncrowded beach, manageable wind, and forgiving water makes Benaulim one of Goa's better natural classrooms. More experienced riders will find honest, reliable sessions rather than anything that pushes advanced skills — this beach's value is in what it removes (crowds, complexity, chaos) rather than what it adds. Pay attention to the tide. Shallow beaches shift character as the water rises, so check timing before you rig. On the lighter days in that 10–18 range, a bigger kite is the right call — underpowered in shallow chop is a tiring way to spend an afternoon. Facilities are a short walk from the sand. Garden View restaurant is the closest option at roughly 435 metres. Domingoes sits around 750 metres away — useful for a meal or a cold drink after your session without needing to drive anywhere. Fisherman Pele Beach-Front Bar & Restaurant and Blue wave are both within about two kilometres if you want a beachfront spot with more atmosphere. For accommodation, La Grace Resort and Carina Beach Resort are both within four kilometres of the beach. Benaulim works naturally as half of a South-North Goa kite trip paired with Morjim in the north. The two spots cover different ends of the Goa experience: Benaulim is quiet and low-pressure, Morjim carries a more established kite scene. Together they give you a proper read on what kiting across the state looks like in the November–March window.
