Berawa Beach sits on Bali's southwest coast, a west-facing stretch of beach in Canggu, just north of the better-known Batu Bolong break. The beach is fully embedded in Canggu's buzzing surf-and-café scene — which means you're never far from a decent coffee or a cold drink after a session, but also means you share the beach with surfers, swimmers, and the occasional dog wandering through your lines before launch. Getting here is straightforward by Bali standards. Canggu is well covered by ride-share apps, and there's parking near the beach access points. The beach itself is a sandy stretch that can tighten up at high tide, so check conditions before you start rigging. The wind picture at Berawa splits clearly by season. From roughly June through September, Bali's dry season brings southeast trade winds — and on a west-facing beach, that means wind blowing from inland out to sea. This side-offshore setup, further amplified by inland thermal currents that build through the afternoon, can deliver strong and consistent sessions. But it's strictly for experienced riders who are comfortable with an offshore component and have reliable self-rescue. If you're still building your kiting skills, the dry season here is not the place to find your feet. The NW monsoon period, roughly October through March, flips the script. Wind swings into the southwest through northwest quarter, sitting squarely in the spot's usable wind arc, and arrives onshore to side-onshore at Berawa. These are far more accessible conditions for a wider range of riders. The sea state during this window is lively: Berawa is a genuine beach break with punchy shore-pound and shifting peaks that reward aerial riding and quick footwork. Ferry Surf School Canggu is the closest kite school, around 2km from the beach — worth a stop for a local conditions briefing even if you're not booking a lesson. For accommodation, Black Pearl Hostel is under a kilometre away. Aston Canggu Beach Resort is a comfortable walk for those after something more settled. After a session, Beach Garden, FIKA, Cocomo Canggu, cream & crumble, Burger Brothers, and Beach Boy Canggu are all within easy reach along the beach road strip. For riders who've put time in on offshore setups and beach breaks, the dry-season thermal window can be genuinely rewarding — strong wind, relatively uncrowded water away from the surf zone, and waves that hold up for proper aerials. The monsoon months offer more predictable onshore conditions with an active wave. Either way, get a local read before going out — this beach doesn't always give obvious warnings before it gets interesting.
