Trikora Beach sits on the northeast coast of Bintan Island in Indonesia's Riau Archipelago — a 45-minute catamaran ride from Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. What you get when you arrive is a long, east-facing stretch of sand fronting shallow, waveless water that suits kiting well: flat surface, tropical warmth around 30°C year-round, and two distinct monsoon windows to plan around. Once off the ferry on Bintan, most accommodation in the Trikora area can arrange onward transfers. The closest lodging to the spot is Madu Tiga Beach and Resort, with Mutiara Beach Resort also within a few kilometres. For food near the launch, Pantai Trikora 3 and RM ikan bakar Ahuat are the nearest options, with GRANDPA LAND a short distance further along. The main kite window runs with the northeast monsoon, typically December through March, with January and February the most consistent months. Wind typically sits 12–20 knots during this period, and the east-facing orientation means NE airflow arrives cross-shore — predictable and clean, with flat water across the usable kite zone. The shallowness works in your favour: it keeps the surface calm even when the wind is building, and you can stand in much of the riding area if you go over. A second season opens July through September during the southwest monsoon, though conditions are patchier than the NE window and the rideable area can be more limited depending on exact wind direction and which section of the beach you set up on. Worth verifying locally before you build a trip around those months. The wind arc here spans from roughly North (355°) through East all the way to Southeast (145°). Most NE monsoon directions land squarely in that window, delivering cross-shore to slightly side-shore angles on the east-facing beach — exactly what you want for a comfortable session with a clear downwind run and no offshore risk. What it doesn't offer is waves, and the 12–20 knot range won't challenge riders chasing big conditions.
