A wipeout in shallow sections can be unpleasant, and dragging equipment across coral causes irreversible damage. Scout your launch and landing area carefully; a sandy channel edge is what you want, and you may need to pick your way to it. With no local kite community to ask, do your homework before you arrive — satellite imagery and a conversation with your accommodation about local conditions will serve you better than turning up blind. Facilities are essentially zero from a kite perspective. Waisai town has guesthouses, dive operators, and basic supplies, but nothing catering specifically to kiters. Bring your own bar, lines, and a full set of spares. A repair kit is not optional at this distance from the nearest kite shop. This is an expedition-grade session at one of the world's most extraordinary locations. If you are a self-sufficient intermediate or above who wants to kite somewhere with genuinely no crowd and nothing like it anywhere else, Raja Ampat in October or November is hard to argue with.
