Arma di Taggia sits on the western Ligurian Riviera in the Province of Imperia, a small coastal town where steep terrain drops to a narrow strip of pebble-sand beach facing the Ligurian Sea. The shore runs roughly SSW, which puts it in the path of the Libeccio — the SW wind that sweeps up this stretch of coastline from late spring through September — as well as the afternoon sea breeze that builds through the warmer months. The town is accessible via the coastal road running along this section of the Riviera. Parking is available near the waterfront, though space tightens in peak summer. The beach itself is narrow, composed of pebble and sand in the way typical of the Ligurian coast, and that narrowness is the first thing to factor into your session planning. This is not a spot for beginners. The launch area is constrained — limited space behind you, beach users to navigate around in summer, and no room for a messy setup. Experienced kiters who can manage a compact rig and a clean water launch will get the most from Arma di Taggia. Sort your lines, run your safety checks, and time your launch for when the beach is less crowded. The usable wind window runs from 120° through 250°, a broad arc that captures both the thermal sea breeze and the Libeccio when it fills in from the SW quadrant. The shore's SSW orientation means wind typically arrives at a slight side-onshore angle, helpful for getting on the water but requiring solid upwind ability to stay clear of the beach once you're riding. Conditions out front are coastal — sea state is chop rather than open-ocean swell, which keeps things in a manageable register on most kite days. The season runs from late spring through September. July and August bring the most consistent thermal activity alongside the heaviest beach crowds, so earlier sessions — before the beach fills — tend to work better for both launch logistics and cleaner wind. For food and a drink close by, Schatten Am See is right at about 265 metres from the beach. Il Sestante Beach Restaurant is roughly 600 metres along the shore, and Vincanta is similarly nearby at around 630 metres. If you're staying over, Blue Beach Tourist Village is the closest accommodation at about 400 metres, with Hotel Arma and Restaurant Hotel Roma both within 1.5 km. The nearest dedicated watersports instruction facility is No Stress Team windsurfing center, roughly 11 km along the coast — worth noting if you need equipment support or lessons in the region. Arma di Taggia rewards the prepared, self-sufficient kiter. It is not a go-anywhere session spot, but on a clean Libeccio day with the right crew it delivers solid coastal riding on a scenic stretch of the Italian Riviera.
