Playa Delfines sits at the southern end of Cancun's hotel zone, where the tourist strip finally opens up into a broad, exposed public beach facing the open Caribbean. Unlike the sheltered spots further north, this stretch catches the full force of the E/NE trade winds — typically 15–25 knots during the November-to-May kite season — making it one of the more consistent spots along Mexico's Caribbean coast. Getting here is easy. The beach sits at the southern tip of the hotel zone with good road access and public parking directly on-site. No private beach clubs or hotel gates to navigate — Playa Delfines is genuinely public. The car park is right by the sand, so rigging is simple, and the wide-open beach gives you room to spread your kite without competing for space with sunbathers. The launch is a broad, gently sloping sandy beach. With E/NE winds, you're setting up side-onshore to side-shore — manageable if your fundamentals are solid. The usable kite window runs from north through east to south (0°–180°), and the classic Caribbean trade wind direction sits right in the middle of that arc. Once you're out, expect open ocean conditions: waves and chop, with the kind of wind energy that asks you to commit. This isn't a flat-water freestyle park — the Caribbean here has real texture and movement. Wave riders will find something to work with; if you're hunting a glassy session, Playa Delfines will disappoint. The mix of consistent trade wind and real sea state is exactly why this spot attracts intermediate and advanced riders. You need reliable upwind riding, confident water relaunches, and the ability to read conditions that can shift during a session. The beach is popular with locals and tourists, so keep your kite footprint tight and communicate clearly with bystanders when you launch and land. November through May is when the trade winds are at their most dependable — outside that window, consistency drops and conditions become harder to call. For food and drinks after your session, the area is well-covered. Nearby restaurants include Rio Nizuc, Arrecife, La Estancia, La Hacienda, La Creperie, and KM 19.5 Restaurant by Joe. For something lighter, Bar Las Cazuelas, Jade, La Marina, and Las Velas are all within reach. It's the hotel zone, so options are plentiful.
