Access is straightforward from the town itself, and the east-facing orientation means the NE trade winds — running between roughly 40° and 70° — arrive side-onshore, giving you a clean beach launch. The main season runs October through April, when those trades deliver around 12–20 knots with real consistency. It's not a screaming wind destination, but the steadiness is genuine and the crowds you'd find at more established spots on the Arabian Peninsula simply don't exist here. The beach is an open coastal launch with the Indian Ocean running out ahead. The real draw for many riders will be downwinders — Duqm's coastline runs long and wide-open, and covering ground past desert scenery with nobody around is a genuinely rare feeling. If you're planning a downwind run, sort your pick-up logistics before you launch. There's no casual support crew on this stretch of coast and no kite-specific rescue presence to bail you out. In July and August, the Khareef can bring wind from the west and southwest. That direction sits outside the primary kite window for this east-facing beach, so summer months require careful condition-checking before you commit to a session. Skill-wise, the moderate wind range and open beach make Duqm workable for intermediates comfortable riding independently in remote settings. There's no kite school, no rental shop, and no organised on-water rescue here. Solid self-rescue and a riding buddy aren't optional — they're the baseline. Facilities in town are functional rather than resort-level. For accommodation there's the Ocean Hotel, AJWAA HOTEL, City Hotel Duqm, Grand Orchid Hotel Apartment, and Duqm Lazoy Hotel, with more appearing as the city develops. Food options include Asian Palace Restaurant, Duqm Nights, MALLOOS TATTUKADA, BROASTEA FRIED CHICKEN, and Duqm Fried Chicken — enough to keep you fuelled between sessions. Don't expect beachfront cafes or kite-focused services; this is a working port city. Getting here means flying into the region or driving through the Omani interior — either way, treat it as an expedition. Stock up on water and supplies in town before heading to the beach. The trade-off is a coastline that feels like almost nobody has discovered it yet.
