About Świnoujście (Uznam)

Świnoujście occupies the western tip of the Polish Baltic coast on the island of Uznam — the same island that runs west into Germany as Usedom. It's a border-town beach spot where the Świna river mouth opens into the open Baltic, giving the beach a broad northward exposure that lines up neatly with the wind window here. The usable kite arc runs from 338° clockwise to 112°, meaning northerly, northeasterly, and easterly winds are your working directions. When a north or northeast fetch builds across the open Baltic it has real room to travel, and the water responds: expect short-period Baltic chop rather than anything resembling ocean swell. It builds quickly and stays lively, which rewards solid upwind technique and a confident edge. A clean easterly can produce comparatively flatter water depending on your launch position along the beach. The beach itself is wide and sandy — standard Baltic coast — with a gradual entry into the water that keeps launching and landing manageable when conditions cooperate. There's no dedicated kite zone apparent from available information, so you're sharing the beach with the summer resort crowd. Read the beach before you rig: identify a clear stretch, mind swimmers, and know where you're landing. The promenade infrastructure is solid, which means crowds in July and August. Getting here is slightly less straightforward than a typical road-trip spot. Świnoujście is split across two islands, and approaching by car from the Polish mainland requires a ferry crossing of the Świna. The service runs regularly but queues build in summer — factor that into your timing window. From the German side via Usedom, the road in is continuous and considerably easier if you're travelling from that direction. After your session the promenade delivers. Nemo Beach Bar and Plażowa Cafe sit closest to the water for immediate post-session drinks. For food, Promenada and Costa Brava handle sit-down dining; Industrialna, Oyster, and Prochownia are solid restaurant options in the area. Browar Miedziowy 44 is the pick if you want a craft beer. Horizon and Melba cover the bar-and-cafe side of things further along the strip. This is a spot that needs the wind in the right sector to deliver. When the north or northeast switches on and runs clean, Świnoujście can put in a worthwhile Baltic session — workable for intermediates building confidence in chop, with enough going on to keep experienced riders engaged. Southerlies and westerlies leave you watching the flags from the cafe.
