About Almerimar

Almerimar sits on the Almería coast roughly 40 kilometres west of the provincial capital, tucked into a marina development in the El Ejido municipality. The spot punches above its weight for Almería — westerly and south-westerly winds swing onto an SSW-facing beach, putting the usable arc (130°–270°) squarely cross-onshore to onshore. That translates to consistent waves in the open zone and genuine flat water close in to the breakwater. Access is straightforward: the beach sits right alongside the marina, and parking near the launch is generally easy. The launch zone is sandy, and the water divides naturally into two zones — waves build further out for advanced riders after bump-and-jump, while the sheltered pocket near the breakwater stays flat and predictable, making it one of the more beginner-friendly setups on this stretch of coast. Wind can reach 18–35 knots on a strong day. The 130°–270° window means you're riding with wind crossing the beach from the south or west rather than blowing straight offshore — a safer, more manageable setup for most riders. That said, conditions vary; a marginal forecast can still produce power when the sea breeze layers in. The hard rule: the spot closes 15 June–15 September. That's a firm restriction, not a rough guideline. Autumn, winter, and spring are your window, and many riders find that works perfectly fine — quieter roads, lower accommodation prices, and enough sun to make a good day feel like a good day. Gear up and get a read on conditions at Alamar Centro Náutico, the kite shop on site — they'll know how wind direction and swell are stacking up. Cafe el mar is the closest food-and-coffee stop at around 150 metres from the beach. Bendito restaurant is about 220 metres away, and Ankara bar-café sits roughly 380 metres back. Bar El Paseo is about a kilometre further if you want somewhere to debrief. For accommodation, Boutique Apartments Spirit Almerimar is close at around 400 metres, Apartamentos Turísticos Spiritmar is 480 metres, and the Almerimar Golf Hotel is roughly 820 metres away. Buceo Andalucía handles rentals if you've arrived without a full kit. Advanced riders get a wave zone when swell is running from the south and west. Intermediates can work the cross-onshore flow with solid space to develop. Beginners have the flatwater section near the breakwater, though you'll want real self-rescue skills before heading out — this is open Mediterranean coast, not a sheltered lagoon. The nearby marina means rescue assets are generally close, but give the breakwater structure plenty of clearance on every session.
