About Jomtien Beach (South)

Jomtien Beach South is a long, south-facing sandy stretch just south of Pattaya on Thailand's eastern Gulf coast. The area is an easy ride from central Pattaya, and the kiting zone concentrates in the southernmost section of the beach, past the boat ramp — that's where the schools are, where the water opens up, and where you get a cleaner setup away from the busier resort strip to the north. The spot runs on the Gulf's southwest monsoon. From May through October, SW winds come in at 15–22 knots with a side-shore angle to the beach — a comfortable orientation that gives you solid upwind ability and room to work along the coast. The strongest sessions typically land between May and September. Outside peak SW season the wind softens and becomes patchier, though the warm Gulf climate means the water stays pleasant year-round. The water character here is one of Jomtien's main selling points. Gulf geography and a sandy bottom keep conditions genuinely flat — very little swell builds, and the surface stays predictably manageable across the season. That combination of accessible wind and forgiving water is exactly why kite schools have planted themselves here. Both Blue lagoon KBA Kiteboarding School Pattaya and Clubloongchat Wing Foiling / Windsurfing Club / Kitesurfing School Pattaya operate in this section, covering everything from first sessions to wing foiling progression. The boat ramp is your key spatial reference on launch. Set up and go south of it — there's active boat traffic moving around the ramp itself, and you want clear separation before you're in the air. Once past that pinch point, the launch is uncomplicated: sandy underfoot, plenty of beach width to lay out your kite, and a gradual entry into flat water. Back on land, facilities are well stocked for a few days on the water. Bay Beach Resort and Blue House Beach keep you close to the kite zone. For food, the beachfront strip has real variety: Cafe Jomtien, Cafe Le Mar, Bavarian Beach, Armenia, and Country bar @Jomtien are all within reach, with Burger King available when you want something fast and reliable after a long session. Jomtien South suits intermediates and progressing beginners well — flat water, consistent SW season wind, and proper school presence make it a practical destination. Advanced riders will find conditions comfortable rather than challenging, but that's part of the appeal: it's a good spot for high-volume mileage sessions, gear testing, or branching into wing foiling in a forgiving environment.
