Large flat-water kite lagoon near Ayvalık town, on the northern Aegean coast close to the Greek island of Lesbos. The 5+ km-wide kiting area is sheltered by scattered islands that calm the swell while the accelerated Meltemi — amplified by thermals — arrives side-shore to side-onshore from the north-west at around 20 kt on peak days. Crystal-clear flat water, warm temperatures (June–August peak). Season April–October. Suitable for all levels.
Ayvalık is a municipality and district of Balıkesir Province, Turkey. Its area is 305 km2, and its population is 75,126 (2024). It is a seaside town on the northwestern Aegean coast of Turkey. The town centre is connected to Cunda Island by a causeway and is surrounded by the archipelago of Ayvalık Islands, which face the nearby Greek island of Lesbos.
