Punta del Diablo sits at Uruguay's northeastern corner, where the Rocha department meets the South Atlantic and the country quietly edges toward Brazil. It's a small, bohemian fishing village that has resisted full tourist conversion — genuinely remote and deliberately low-key. That character is the point, and part of the planning requirement. The beach faces southeast into open Atlantic, which means real fetch and real swell alongside whatever wind you get. A SE-facing Atlantic beach with this arc is fundamentally a wave spot: expect rolling swell lines, a live shore break, and water that asks something of you.
