Ilha de Luanda is a narrow sandspit that curves alongside Angola's capital, and the North Point puts you on the sheltered northeastern face of that strip — the bay side, where the water is flat and the trade winds work their way through from the northeast and east. The geography does the heavy lifting here. The sandspit geometry means the bay side is naturally protected from open-ocean swell, leaving you with smooth, calm water that rewards freeride and flatwater freestyle in equal measure. NE/E trade winds run through at 15–20 knots, sitting squarely within the usable arc of 270°–90°, so the direction is consistent and manageable. For an intermediate rider with solid kite control, this is a comfortable setup — the conditions let you focus on progression rather than just surviving the session. This is not a beginner spot. The local kite community here is established, and both Clube náutico and Escola de Condução operate in the area. Once you're there, the kite launch is on the bay side of the North Point, which is where you want to be. The flat water is the main draw. No surf breaks to negotiate, no heavy chop to battle — just a clean surface that suits riders who want to work on technique or lay down long carves. The trade wind direction is steady enough that session planning is more predictable than it would be at a thermally-dependent spot.
