About Coruripe

Coruripe is a working coastal town on the southern end of Alagoas state — east-facing, low-key, and sitting on consistent SE-to-E trade winds that push steadily in from the South Atlantic. This isn't a purpose-built kite resort; it's a genuine beach town where a growing kite scene is taking shape around local schools and riders who've worked out what the spot can offer. Getting there means driving south from Maceió, the Alagoas state capital. The coast road makes the approach straightforward, the town is compact, and you can park near the waterfront without complicated logistics. This is still a local community, not an international kite hub — act accordingly. The coast faces east, which means the prevailing SE-to-E trades come in cleanly across the ocean. The usable wind arc here runs from 0° to 180°, covering a full sweep from northerly through easterly to southerly — and the trades that run this stretch of coast sit solidly in the SE-to-E portion of that range. When the wind is properly in, conditions are consistent and reliable. The reef is what defines the riding here. At low tide, flat, protected sections of water open up behind the reef structure — shielded from the Atlantic swell, with a calmer and more manageable surface.
