Mangroovy Beach is the primary kitesurf spot at El Gouna, a purpose-built Red Sea resort 20 km north of Hurghada — one of the most wind-reliable kitesurf destinations on the planet. The spot centres on a large, shallow lagoon roughly 2–3 km long and 1 km wide, with a sandy bottom and crystal-clear turquoise water that stays knee-to-waist deep depending on tide. That flat-water setup, combined with consistent NW trade winds blowing cross-shore from the left, makes it an exceptional training environment and a top-tier freestyle destination. El Gouna records 300+ windy days per year, with the NW trade wind averaging 15–25 knots. The wind builds through the morning and peaks in the afternoon, reinforced by a thermal from the sun-heated desert. Wind conditions are particularly strong and steady from March through November. The usable arc runs from NW through N and NE (roughly 315–135°), giving side-shore to cross-onshore conditions at Mangroovy Beach — clean and consistent, with no significant gusting from land obstructions. Several IKO-certified kite schools operate directly on the beach, including Kitepower El Gouna, Makani Beach Club, KBC Kiteboarding Club, and Riah Kite Academy — covering beginner lessons through advanced technique. The resort town of El Gouna sits adjacent, offering a full range of restaurants, bars, accommodation and services within walking or short cycling distance. Entry: there is shallow reef near the beach in places; water shoes are recommended for beginners.
