Safaga North Beach sits in a sheltered cove just north of Safaga port on Egypt's Red Sea coast — a quieter alternative to the more developed spots nearby. The town is a working port, which gives this stretch of beach an unfussy, local character you won't find at the polished resort strips further up the coast. The spot's main asset is its lagoon. Offshore reefs shelter the near-shore water, creating a shallow, relatively calm area that forgives beginner mistakes and lets you focus on technique without fighting heavy chop. The sandy bottom and manageable conditions make it a solid choice for building confidence or dialling in a new move. Wind comes predominantly from the north to northwest, running side-onshore across the beach. The usable kite window covers a wide arc from 320° around to 140°, giving a clean angle for launching and riding without sending you straight offshore. Conditions typically run in the 15–22 knot range through the season — consistent enough to plan sessions rather than gamble on gusts, and steady enough to get moving on a mid-size kite without fighting for power. The best window runs May through October, when prevailing northerlies combine to deliver the most reliable wind on this stretch of the Red Sea. Outside this period, conditions become patchier. Traffic on the water here is lighter than at Soma Bay. That matters when you're still sorting out right-of-way or just want room to ride without a crowd at your heels. It's not a secret spot, but it's a step down in congestion from the busier resort launches nearby. For the launch, you're working off a cove beach with port infrastructure to the south. The shallow lagoon lets you walk your kite out before water-starting — useful on lighter days or when self-launching. Keep the offshore reefs in mind when you push further out: they're what makes the inside forgiving, but straying too far means that same protection works against you. Facilities at the beach are limited. This isn't a kite centre with gear hire and a café — come prepared with your own water, sun protection, and a repair kit. Safaga town is close enough for basic resupplies, but don't arrive expecting resort infrastructure. Hurghada Airport is the standard gateway for this stretch of the Red Sea coast. Car hire or a pre-arranged driver is the practical way to reach the beach — getting there directly by public transport is not straightforward. The launch sits north of the port, so factor that into your navigation.
