Pärnu sits at the southern end of Pärnu Bay on Estonia's west coast, a resort town that has built a genuine reputation as one of the Baltic's more consistent kitesurf destinations. The beach stretches wide and sandy, the water running flat and shallow out across the bay — a combination that suits every level, from a first water-start to a seasoned freerider looking for clean flatwater runs without fighting a swell. Getting there is easy. Several kite stations sit along the beach, each fitted with air compressors, restrooms and parking. You're not hunting for a pump or walking half a kilometre with a bag of kite: inflate on the spot, rig, and launch. It's the kind of setup that keeps sessions efficient and frustration low. The shore faces roughly WSW — around 250° — and the practical wind window runs from 170° to 330°. That means south, south-west and west all arrive as onshore or cross-onshore, keeping the launch clean and the bay sheltered enough to stay flat even when the wind picks up. Directions outside that arc shift toward cross-shore or offshore, so check your bearing before rigging. With approximately 280 windy days per year, Pärnu has genuine consistency for the Baltic — a broad spread of rideable days across the year, not just a narrow seasonal window. Beginners will find the shallow sandy bottom and flat water genuinely forgiving. There's room to body drag out, sort your lines and work through water-starts without depth becoming an immediate factor. The calm bay keeps the environment manageable while you're building the basics. For intermediates and advanced riders the same flat water accelerates progression — carves, transitions and more technical moves are all cleaner without chop eating your momentum or pushing you off your edge. Hotels in the old town make multi-day trips straightforward — solid flat-water kiting through the day, a proper dinner and a comfortable bed a short drive away in the evening.
