About Spot de Kitesurf de Fréjus

Fréjus sits on the western end of the French Riviera, where the bay curves in below the Esterel massif. The town's beach is one of the longer sandy stretches on this part of the Côte d'Azur — a wide, flat arc that gives kitesurfers genuine room to rig and launch without fighting for every metre of sand. Getting here is uncomplicated from most directions: the coastal autoroute runs close inland, and the main coast road connects the town to Saint-Raphaël to the east and to the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to the west. Paid parking clusters behind the promenade in summer; outside peak season it's more relaxed. Walk the beachfront until you see the flags marking the kite zone. The launch is a sandy beach launch — flat underfoot, no rock ledge or shingle at the water's edge under normal conditions. The beach has enough width to rig safely when it's not August at its fullest. As with most Mediterranean spots, you're working with thermal winds that build through the morning and tend to peak in the afternoon; waiting for the flags to commit before pulling out the pump is standard practice here. The fetch is a sheltered bay rather than open ocean, so expect chop and short-period swells rather than long rollers. Inshore tends to be manageable — useful for intermediates getting comfortable with their riding — but the sea state can still catch you when the wind accelerates sharply. The bigger seasonal concern is boat traffic: in July and August the bay fills with leisure craft and jet-skis, and staying inside any marked zones while keeping constant situational awareness is simply part of the session. The facility situation near the spot is genuinely good. Within easy reach of the beach you have Alba Plage, Évasion, Kokonut, and L'Ancre Bleue for drinks and lighter bites between sessions. For a proper sit-down meal once the wind has died, Au P'Tit Creux, El Patio, La Rose des Sables, Le Boeuf sur le Quai, and Le Cabanon all sit nearby — a range that covers everything from a post-session beer to a full evening dinner. Summer is when the thermals are most consistent, but it's also when the beach is at its busiest. Late spring and early autumn tend to be the sweet spot: wind still shows up, the crowds thin out, and you're not competing for launch space. Winter is quiet and variable; the Mistral can push through cold and hard when it arrives, which is a different kind of session with different preparation. This spot suits intermediates and above most comfortably. The sandy launch is forgiving, the inshore water character is manageable, and the after-session options are solid — but summer demands sharp awareness of everything sharing the water with you.
