About Kitezone

Tucked into the southern shoreline near the village of Übersee in Upper Bavaria, Kitezone sits at a proper lake kitesurf spot with a dedicated kite school right on the beach. The surrounding landscape is classic Alpine foothills country — green rolling hills, clean air, and a body of water large enough to give you real riding room. Getting here is straightforward from the Munich direction; Übersee itself is a small lakeside community, and the Strandbad Übersee points you directly toward the water once you arrive. Parking is typically available near the beach area. The launch is a lake beach setup — sandy or grassy depending on the exact section — which keeps things manageable compared to ocean breaks. No surf to contend with, no tidal variation. Water is generally calm to light chop, which makes this a reasonable venue for learning and progression, particularly when conditions are moderate. The presence of the Kitezone kite school on site means beginners have structured options, and intermediate riders can refine technique without the unpredictability of open-sea conditions. Wind on a landlocked Alpine lake tends to be thermally driven and variable in character — it can switch angle or intensity with relatively little notice, which means you want to stay aware of what the sky is doing and not drift too far from your launch point. The lake setting means cold water is a realistic factor depending on season, so a wetsuit appropriate to the time of year is sensible planning rather than optional.
