The prime season runs from June through September, when the Meltemi wind system delivers its most consistent performance. July and August tend to offer the strongest and most reliable wind, though conditions can also be demanding during these months. Shoulder months like June and early September can offer slightly more manageable wind with good frequency.

The spot is best suited to intermediate and advanced kiters. When the Meltemi is fully active, wind strength can be significant and conditions can be powerful. Beginners should consider lessons with a local school and aim for lighter wind days rather than peak Meltemi sessions. Experienced riders who are comfortable in powered-up conditions will feel right at home.

The dominant wind at Agrilaopotamos is the Meltemi, which typically blows from a northerly to north-westerly direction. This generally creates side-to-onshore conditions at the beach, which is considered relatively safe for kitesurfing. Always assess the exact angle on the day before launching.

During peak Meltemi season, most intermediate to advanced riders reach for smaller kites — often in the 7m to 10m range depending on body weight and exact wind strength. It's generally wise to size down slightly rather than overpower yourself, as gusts can be stronger than the average reading suggests. Bringing two kite sizes gives you flexibility.

The spot offers a mix of flat water closer to the shore and small to medium-sized waves further out. This makes it versatile for both freestyle and wave riding. Flat water sections are good for practising tricks and technical riding, while the outer zones offer wave riding opportunities when the Meltemi is running strong.

The main hazard is the strength and variability of the Meltemi wind, which can gust significantly and build quickly. Riders should be prepared for powered-up conditions and size their kites conservatively. As with any beach launch, be mindful of other beach users and check the local conditions thoroughly before heading out.

The beach is located approximately four kilometers west of Karpathos Airport, making it one of the most conveniently accessed kitesurf spots on the island. You can reach it by rental car or taxi from the airport or from Pigadia town. Having your own transport on the island is generally recommended for flexibility.

The sandy beach has a wide, spacious coastline that provides good room for rigging, launching, and landing kites. It's considered one of the more comfortable launches on Karpathos due to the amount of open space available. Still, check for other beach users and any local guidelines before setting up.

Facilities directly at the beach are limited, in keeping with the relatively undeveloped nature of this part of Karpathos. The nearby town of Pigadia offers accommodation, restaurants, and general supplies. There are kite schools and rental operations on the island that can assist with equipment and lessons — it's worth researching and contacting them ahead of your trip.

It is widely regarded as the top kitesurf spot on the island, combining consistent Meltemi winds, a spacious launch area, and varied water conditions. The scenic views toward Kasos Island add to the appeal. While 'best' is always subjective depending on your riding style, it consistently draws the most kitesurf activity on Karpathos.
