Getting there from Rhodes city is straightforward: take the coastal road southwest through Kremasti and Theologos; Fanes is the next village along. The launch area is on the beach itself. With the mixed sand-and-pebble surface, footwear is worth having when you're rigging up. The wind is the NW Meltemi, arriving cross-shore from the left on this west-facing beach. Mornings tend to be light, with thermals building through the day — by afternoon you're typically looking at 15–25 knots and a solid session. The season runs June through September, with July and August delivering the most consistent conditions and the strongest wind. Outside peak summer, conditions can be patchier. The cross-shore angle is generally forgiving, and the beach's exposure to the open Mediterranean gives you room to work with. Beginners can find their feet here, though the afternoon thermal build-up means conditions can shift during a session — keep an eye on the wind as the day progresses. Intermediates and advanced riders will enjoy the space and the reliable afternoon pressure. Expect flat-to-choppy water depending on wind strength and swell; the sandy bottom is reassuring for those learning or practising new moves. For lessons or gear support, MKV Kite Beach and MKV Kite Station are both on site. Between sessions, the beach is well served: Capitan's Main Restaurant, Elena Restaurant, Greek Mageirio, and Γεύσεις... σοφίας (Geyseis...sofias) cover the food side, while Taverna Delphini and the Outdoor bar handle post-session drinks. Fanes is a strong choice if you want the classic Rhodes Meltemi experience without fighting for launch space. Less traffic, solid wind, and a handful of good restaurants — it does what a kite beach should do without making a fuss about it.
