About Livadakia Beach (Serifos)

Livadakia Beach sits in a sheltered bay a short walk from Livadi port, the main harbour village on Serifos. The island is part of the western Cyclades — quieter and less packaged than its more famous neighbours, which suits the kitesurf crowd just fine. The beach faces northeast, opening into a bay that catches the Meltemi well. From June through September the Meltemi blows N to NW, hitting Livadakia side-shore from the left as you stand looking out to sea. The wind arc runs 320° to 140°, giving you a wide usable kite window. When the Meltemi is running, the bay is sheltered enough to keep the water relatively flat — sandy bottom, no significant chop — which makes this a reasonable pick for riders across the skill range, from those still building their upwind game to freeriders who want consistent, predictable runs. The launch is off a sandy beach. No rock scramble, no reef edge, no difficult access track. Livadakia's position close to the port makes it one of the more straightforward kitespots to reach on the island — no 4×4 required. Flat water over a sandy bottom is a forgiving combination for newer riders working on board starts and transitions, and it is genuinely enjoyable for more experienced riders too. The Meltemi, when properly established, tends toward consistency. That said, Aegean thermals can add punch on hot afternoons, so watch how the day develops before you rig up — a calm morning can look different by early afternoon. The beachfront is well set up for the end of a session. Restaurants including Aloni, Calma, Marathoriza, Yacht Club, and Αχινός line the seafront, and you will find cafés and bars — Indigo, Malabar, Γάιδαρος, Γαλάζιο, and Καρνάγιο — for a coffee or a drink while you pack down your kite. It is a civilised setup in an honest setting. Getting here means a ferry from Piraeus. Livadi is where the boat docks, and Livadakia beach is within easy walking distance of the harbour — one of the few Cyclades spots where you step off the ferry and the kitespot is genuinely on your doorstep. Serifos sees relatively little mass tourism, and the atmosphere at Livadakia reflects that. No circus, no crowd management — just a solid flat-water bay with reliable Meltemi season wind.
