Kitesurfing Nissakia (Loutsa/Artemida)

Attica, Greece

Wind & Conditions

Premier kite and windsurf destination for Athens locals, 25 km east of the city centre near Artemida (Loutsa). The beach faces east-northeast toward a cluster of small islands (nissakia = small islands) that create a sheltered zone of mirror-flat water when the north-to-northeast Meltemi is blowing. The outer zone around the islets offers more choppy, advanced conditions. Wind is predominantly N/NNE/NE, building from midday to late afternoon. Intermediate to advanced due to rocky shore entry and sea urchins; a full surf centre operates on site. Season March–November; peak July–September.
