When the southwest monsoon arrives, it delivers steady wind straight across open water directly onto a pristine arc of sand, and kiters with the initiative to get here find conditions that feel genuinely untouched. The beach faces west into the Andaman Sea, which puts arriving southwest monsoon wind firmly in the usable kite window of 180° to 359°. From May through September, expect 15 to 25 knots driven by the monsoon — side-onshore to onshore depending on the exact direction on any given day. The wind travels over a long ocean fetch with nothing to interrupt it, so the sea state tends to build: expect a mix of chop close in and open-ocean swell further out. There is no kite school here and no rental operation — this is a spot for experienced, self-sufficient kiters who arrive with their own gear and enough skill to self-rescue if needed. The beach is long and the sand is soft, giving you room to lay out and rig without pressure, but you'll want to do a careful wind and water read before launching. The water in the shallows is typically clear and warm, with the tropical Andaman Sea character you'd expect at this latitude. Because Havelock sits within a protected island environment, the spot remains genuinely pristine — no jet-ski traffic, no parasail operations sharing your upwind window. That same protected status means you should check current local regulations before visiting, as permit or access rules can shift.
