Getting to the spot is straightforward — the Chunnambar Boat House is a well-known local landmark and navigation from Pondicherry is simple. The area draws both tourists and watersport activity, so expect some movement around the boat access points. The shore normal runs roughly east, and NE monsoon winds fall comfortably within the usable kite window, so your downwind line doesn't push you into immediate trouble. The water is the main draw. The inlet configuration delivers flat water — the backwater estuary shields you from Bay of Bengal swell, so you're working clean, glassy conditions rather than fighting chop.
