About Beit Yanay

Beit Yanay sits on Israel's Mediterranean coastline, a couple of kilometres north of Netanya in the Center District. The spot has earned a reputation as the country's premier kite beach, and once you arrive it's easy to see why: two kilometres of wide, sandy shoreline give you plenty of room to rig up, walk your lines, and launch without the usual crowd anxiety. The beach faces west, and the dominant wind here is the "Erez" — a reliable N/NW sea breeze that typically runs 15–25 knots through spring and summer. The usable kite window spans from due south right around through west and north to just short of east (180°–359°), so the prevailing sea breezes slot cleanly into your riding arc. The Erez tends to build through the afternoon, so early sessions can be on the lighter side before things firm up. The water is flat to choppy on most days, which makes this a solid training ground for beginners and a satisfying freestyle venue for riders who want to work on their tricks. Come winter, the dynamic shifts: southerly and westerly winds drive Mediterranean swell reaching around 2 metres, giving wave riders a reason to stay on through the colder months. It's short-period and punchy — the Mediterranean is not an ocean break — but rewarding if you can adapt your timing. There are no access restrictions year-round, and the spot genuinely suits all levels. The wide beach gives beginners enough room to practise without crowding other riders, while experienced riders can push into the chop or hunt the winter waves. April through October is widely considered the prime window — the Erez is at its most consistent, the sea is warm, and conditions suit learning and progression. Outside that window the spot is still rideable, just less predictable. Accommodation is close: ADVA HOUSE sits roughly 400 metres from the beach, with ADVA boutique hotel a short walk further at around 700 metres. Zimmeroni and Galei Tsanz offer additional options a few kilometres out. For food post-session, Shauli Shawarma, the Pancake House, Bakery Express, and Aroma are all within about 800 metres. The bar-café ארומה is at roughly 740 metres — useful for a drink while your adrenaline settles. Windrose Kitesurfing runs lessons in the Netanya area, though the school is based around 16 km from the spot, so contact them ahead to confirm session locations. One hazard to keep in mind: summer brings swimmers and beach crowds, so stay alert at the waterline during launch and landing. The Mediterranean chop can also catch riders off-guard if you're used to flat-water conditions — give yourself a few runs to read the sea before pushing your limits.
