About Poleg Beach (Netanya)

Poleg Beach sits at the mouth of the Poleg River, just north of Netanya on Israel's Mediterranean coastline. It's a wide, open stretch of sand — one of the more spacious setups on this stretch of coast — with solid access and enough room that crowd pressure simply isn't part of the equation. You rig up, launch, and ride without the usual beach politics. Getting there is uncomplicated. The beach has good parking on-site, which removes one of the most frustrating parts of any kite session: the gear drag. The Center District location means it's reachable from most of Israel's major population centres, and the approach doesn't involve navigating anything technical. The launch area sits within the natural geometry of the rivermouth, giving a defined zone that's clear of obstructions and spacious enough to rig comfortably. The wide sandy beach means you have room to lay out lines without stepping on anyone — a genuine advantage over tighter urban beach setups. Wind here is predominantly north to northwest, typically running in the 15–22 knot range through the season. The usable arc covers 180° to 359°, which means everything from a southerly through west and around to north sits within the rideable window. That's a wide net, and it means the spot stays active across a good range of conditions rather than being narrowly dependent on one direction. The main season runs April through October. Water character ranges from flat to choppy depending on wind strength and direction. On a clean NW day in the mid-range, the surface is manageable and well-suited to progression work. Push into the upper wind range and the chop builds — still rideable, but sessions get livelier. This isn't a wave spot; the focus is freeride and skill development in consistent, accessible conditions. All levels work here. Beginners get the wide beach, clear launch space, and light crowd pressure on their side. Intermediates can put in quality freeriding on those reliable NW sessions. Experienced riders will find it a dependable go-to — solid hours in the water when you want them. The absence of crowding means you're not fighting for launch priority or managing kite proximity. After you're done on the water, there are a few food and drink options at the beach.
