About Brenzone · Malibù Beach

Brenzone sul Garda sits on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, Italy's largest lake, wedged between steep limestone mountains and the wide blue of the water. Malibù Beach — locally known as Assenza di Brenzone — is a sandy west-facing strip, and in summer it catches the Pelér, the reliable northerly thermal that gives this stretch of Garda a dependable kite window. The Pelér typically builds in the morning and runs through to early afternoon, sitting somewhere in the 15–25 knot range during peak season. As it eases, the Ora — the southerly afternoon thermal — can fill in from the opposite direction. The usable kite arc runs 200°–340°, covering both thermals and delivering cross-shore to cross-offshore angles from this west-facing beach. The transition window between the two thermals isn't always clean; timing it takes local knowledge and patience. The sandy beach is a practical advantage — rigging and launching are more manageable here than at rockier spots on the lake. The setting is different from open-water ocean kiteboarding in ways that matter: no tides, minimal current, but real boat traffic sharing the water, and an enclosed geography that limits recovery options if you end up downwind or in the water away from shore. Mountain terrain channels the Pelér between the cliffs, so what you feel at the sand isn't always what you get 200 metres out on the lake. On the water, you're working a west-facing fetch with the mountains rising steeply behind the launch as your constant reference. When the Pelér runs cleanly, the lake surface builds to lively chop that suits powered freeride riding. It's not a wave spot, but the combination of reliable thermal wind and a dramatic mountain backdrop makes for memorable sessions. Facilities close to the launch are solid. Club da Baia and Il Vapor are both within about 85 metres of the beach, and Giuly restaurant is similarly close — food and coffee are sorted before and after sessions without leaving the waterfront. CentroKiteMarniga is the nearest kite school at about 460m, and Avid Kiteboarding operates further along the shore at around 2km. Belfiore Park Hotel offers accommodation about 1.3km away; June Stay Lake Garda is a further option at around 3.5km. Bar sul Porto at about 1.8km is a reliable post-session stop. This spot is for intermediate to advanced riders. The Pelér can push the top of its range on strong mornings, and the lake's confined geometry amplifies the consequences of poor water skills. Know your relaunch cold before you go out, be honest about your self-rescue ability, and watch downwind drift carefully. The best window is June through September, with mornings through early afternoon being the productive time. Get on the water early — the Pelér rewards it.
