Flame Balls sits on Madagascar's remote southwest coast, a stretch of Indian Ocean shoreline that sees consistent south and southeast trades push in across open water with little to interrupt them before they reach the beach. The coordinates put you in one of the island's most isolated kite zones — getting here takes commitment, typically a combination of domestic flight and road or boat transfer from a regional hub, but the riders who make the trip tend to come back. The wind arc runs from east through to south (90°–180°), with the SE direction being the primary driver at this spot. When the trades are firing, the window is solid and the fetch is long enough to produce a well-developed swell line. Expect choppier water when the wind is squarely south versus the cleaner conditions that often accompany a more southeasterly direction — though local nuance varies day to day and the picture can shift with tide. The launch area is a coastal setup consistent with southwest Madagascar's character: sand, shallow water at the margins, and space to rig and depower without fighting crowds. This is not a spot with a developed infrastructure around it — the region is quiet by design, and that's the appeal. You're here for the riding, not the amenity list. For on-the-water riding, the SE wind direction and open ocean exposure suggest intermediates and above will get the most from it. The conditions can be punchy, and the remoteness of the location means self-sufficiency matters — a gear failure here is a bigger deal than at a resort spot with a kite school fifty metres away.
