Pointe Faula sits at the southeastern tip of Martinique, just outside the fishing village of Le Vauclin. The reef-sheltered lagoon here stretches nearly 400 metres, giving you one of the cleaner flat-water setups in the eastern Caribbean. The trade winds run in from the east, northeast, and southeast for most of the peak season — November through June — and the natural coral barrier keeps the water inside calm and relatively shallow, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to dial in your riding rather than fight chop. Le Vauclin itself is a working fishing village, and the spot carries that energy. No resort strip, no DJ booth on the beach — just locals going about their day, a handful of restaurants within walking distance, and kiters rigging up on the sand. The atmosphere is unpretentious, but the riding is legit. The lagoon's orientation falls squarely within the 45°–225° usable window. Trades running E, NE, or SE fill in reliably and push across the water at an angle that gives you room to work upwind. Wind through the peak season typically runs 12–25 knots, so you'll see everything from comfortable beginner days to proper freeride conditions depending on when you arrive. The water stays warm year-round. Kite zones are separated from the swimming and fishing areas, which matters here: this is an active community beach, not a private kite park. Respect those boundaries and things run smoothly for everyone. Multiple IKO-certified schools operate at the spot, so lessons and gear rental are accessible if you're looking to progress or just need to hire a board for the week. The flat, shallow lagoon is a strong draw for learners and freestyle riders who want predictable water. The coral protection means you're largely sheltered from ocean swell inside the lagoon — but you are riding over reef in places. Reef shoes are a sensible call, and a wipeout in the shallows deserves careful treatment. Keep spatial awareness about depth, especially on bigger gear. After your session, Le Vauclin punches above its size on food. Brafine covers drinks and lighter fare. For a proper sit-down meal with Creole cooking, Chez Marie-Alice, La Saveur Créole, Titiris, and Le Toucan are all within reach. DKlé, K'Bana, and Pizzeria la Vauclinoise round out the options if you want variety. None of these are tourist-facing operations — this is the food the village actually eats. Peak season runs November to June. The strongest, most consistent trade winds sit in the heart of that window. Summer months can be lighter and more variable — still rideable on the right day, but not what the spot is known for. If you're building a trip around kiting, aim for the peak window and Le Vauclin will rarely let you down.
