Tahaddart Lagoon sits at the mouth of Oued Tahaddart, a sheltered river-mouth spot on Morocco's Atlantic coast, roughly 20 miles south of Tangier and 8 miles north of Asilah. Getting here is easy — the spot lies close to the N1 highway, so the drive from either city is straightforward and well-paved. What draws riders back is the water itself: a shallow, flat, obstacle-free lagoon that works well for both freeride and freestyle. The river-mouth geography creates a naturally protected environment where chop stays manageable, giving you genuinely usable flatwater rather than just surf-beaten coast. Depths are forgiving, which matters when you're working on tricks and don't want a hard bottom landing to ruin your session. Wind arrives primarily from the north and northwest, running cross-shore. Spring and summer are the prime window — a combination of thermal and frontal winds builds through those months, with thermals typically strengthening through the afternoon. The usable kite window runs from 180° right through the western arc to 359°, meaning the spot can handle a healthy spread of directions before you lose your angle. NW is the direction locals wait for. The flatwater character makes this a spot that works across skill levels, but it's not without its considerations. The river-mouth setting means tidal movement and current influence can shift the water level and push. Before you rig, pay attention to where the tide is sitting and where the current is running — particularly the downwind end of the lagoon. Cross-shore wind is generally forgiving for self-rescue, but knowing your exit before you launch is basic discipline here as anywhere. The local kite community from Tangier and Asilah knows this spot well. That matters: a lagoon that's been ridden regularly by locals for years is one that delivers sessions worth returning for. If you're visiting, there's no better weather station than someone who just came off the water. For food and drink, the surrounding area has a solid mix: Al Bahr, Babylon Lounge & Restaurant, Chellah Beach, and La Terazza cover the restaurant end; Bar Eat Fish and El Pueblo Kabila Beach M'diq are good for something more casual.
