About Blagoveshchenskaya (Blaga)

Blagoveshchenskaya — known to everyone as Blaga — sits on the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar Krai, a short distance from the resort town of Anapa. Russia's most recognised kitesurfing destination, it has earned that status on genuine merit: a southwest Venturi thermal, flat water, and a kite scene that has grown into one of the most developed riding environments in the country. The village is small and summer-oriented, which makes the beach easy to locate. Services and accommodation cluster near the waterfront, and the kite setup is clearly established rather than improvised. The launch area is on a sandy beach in a dedicated kite zone — this is a spot that hosts the annual Rail Masters competition, so the infrastructure around riding is serious and the beach etiquette is shaped by people who know what they're doing. The wind is a southwest Venturi thermal delivering steady pressure in the 15–20 knot range. The usable window spans east through south to west (90°–270°), comfortably covering the dominant SW direction. As with most thermals, the breeze tends to build through the morning into midday, so early sessions may see lighter air that fills in as the temperature rises. When it's on, it's consistent enough to plan around. The water is the headline: genuinely flat. The thermal pattern produces clean, consistent pressure without driving significant chop, and the surface stays smooth when the wind is up — which is exactly what you want for freestyle and rail work. Kite parks with sliders are set up on the water here during the season, and the beach area around them is busy with riders working park lines. The Rail Masters competition runs at this spot annually, which tells you everything about the calibre of riding and organisation here. Season runs May through September. The flat water and thermal conditions suit intermediates looking to progress their technique, and experienced riders focused on freestyle and kite park work will find conditions that reward that kind of riding. Beginners are catered for: Kayt Shkola Kaytek is within about 1.6 km of the beach, and KiteSchool and Kite School Soul are further out but accessible during the season. Accommodation options within a short walk include Baza Otdykha "Rusalochka" and Iskra (both roughly 1.1–1.2 km) and Ekopark Otel' "Rassvet" at around 1.4 km. For food and drinks, Lazurka and Blaga Libre are each around 1.7 km away; Kafe 19 is at a similar distance, and Kafe Limanych is further at about 3.2 km. This is a seasonal beach village — most services close outside May–September, and the summer months bring a busy kite scene. Launching and landing with awareness of other riders and swimmers is standard practice during peak weeks.
