About Los Narejos · Los Alcázares

Los Narejos sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor lagoon, just outside Los Alcázares in Murcia. The lagoon's geography is what makes this spot work: enclosed, shallow — nowhere deeper than 7 metres — and positioned to channel easterly winds straight across flat water to the beach. For kitesurfers, that's about as good a setup as a natural lagoon gets. The beachfront is straightforward to reach and navigate once you're in Los Alcázares. The launch area is a sandy shore on the lagoon's western edge. Multiple kite schools operate directly from the beach, so gear storage, rigging space, and instruction are all on-site. Wind here is predominantly thermal and easterly, building across the lagoon each afternoon from around April through October, typically running 12 to 20 knots. The east wind arrives side-onshore — it comes from your left as you face the water — a reliable angle for freeriding and learning alike, since any drift runs along the shore rather than offshore. Outside the thermal season the spot is still rideable, but conditions are more variable. The water itself is the main draw. The Mar Menor is calm, flat, and warm through most of the riding season. That combination makes Los Narejos a reference beginner and intermediate spot in the lagoon. Body-drag recoveries are easy in shallow water; the absence of swell removes one of the main complications for riders still building confidence. For intermediates and more experienced riders, the flat water is equally useful for technique work — transitions, unhooking, toeside — conditions that let you repeat moves cleanly without fighting chop. Peak summer, July and August, brings a trade-off: the warm calm water that suits kitesurfers also draws swimmers and paddlers in numbers. Launching and landing on a crowded beach requires extra care. If you're visiting in peak season, early morning sessions are the practical call. After the water, the beachfront has plenty of options. Chiringuito Llanamar is the closest bar on the sand. Café Bar Verde and Alt Café are solid for a coffee or cold drink. For food, La Morenita, La Pizzería, and La casa de papel are nearby choices; Churrería La Olivera and Kebab Los Alcázares work well if you want something quick and filling. Confitería Bastida is a good morning stop before you rig. Los Narejos isn't a spot for riders chasing waves or pushing performance limits. It's a well-organised flatwater ground with consistent thermal wind, kite schools on the beach, and a sheltered lagoon that forgives mistakes. For beginners, intermediates building their sessions, or anyone who wants reliable uncomplicated riding in warm water — it's built for exactly that.
