The beach faces broadly west-southwest, so when the Bay of Bengal's southwest monsoon kicks in between May and September, you get a side-onshore flow that keeps kites honest and launches straightforward. During the monsoon window, expect winds in the 15–25 knot range — enough to keep intermediates and advanced riders busy. Wave-kiters particularly come for this period, when the Bay serves up swell alongside the driving wind. The beach bottom is flat and sandy near shore, which is forgiving for water starts and easier on the nerves when things go sideways. The usable kite window runs from roughly south-southeast through to north-northwest (150°–330°), so you have a solid portion of the compass covered when conditions align. Outside the monsoon, October through February brings the northeast dry-season wind — lighter, less consistent, and less predictable for kiting. It can still produce rideable days, but you'd want to watch the forecast carefully rather than booking a dedicated kite trip around it. Getting here means flying into Cox's Bazar Airport, which has connections from Dhaka. The town is well-served with accommodation right on or near the beach — Arham Beach Resort, Divine Eco Resort, Needs Bay Watch, and Poushee Hotel & Restaurant are among the options within reach of the water. For food between sessions, Casablanca Restaurant, Jhinuk Restaurant, Momo's & Juice Bar, New Boishakhi Restaurant and Birini House, Popeyes, and Rain Drop Cafe are all nearby. The resort strip and beach promenade are busy with domestic tourism — Cox's Bazar is a major destination for Bangladeshi travellers, so expect crowds near the hotels, particularly on weekends and public holidays. The beach is wide and long enough that you can find quieter sections if you're willing to walk, but launch-site selection near the main strip demands care. There is no permanent kite school operating here, which means you'll want to arrive fully self-sufficient: bring your own gear, know your limits, and have a solid self-rescue plan. For wave-kiters chasing an off-the-beaten-track Bay of Bengal session, the southwest monsoon window here can genuinely deliver. Come prepared, respect the crowd density near the water, and treat 120 kilometres of raw coastline for what it is — frontier kite territory that rewards riders who do their homework.
