Iguapé sits on the coast of Aquiraz municipality, roughly 35 kilometres south-east of Fortaleza, and it punches well above its size. The beach faces into the Atlantic's reliable easterly trade winds, which arrive side-onshore and push across a protected flat-water lagoon section that has made this one of the go-to spots along Ceará's kitesurf coast. It's a straightforward day-trip from Fortaleza — the city's proximity means you can be rigging up here by mid-morning without mounting any kind of expedition. The approach follows the coastal road out of Fortaleza toward Aquiraz. The beach is easily accessible, and you'll find enough space to rig comfortably before heading to the water's edge. The area sees enough kite traffic that logistics are well understood — locals and the schools on site have the routine down. Once you're at the water, the appeal is immediate. The easterly trade wind arrives side-onshore with typical speeds in the 15–25 knot range, giving you a clean, consistent window across the usable arc. The flat-water lagoon section is the headline act: calm, predictable, and forgiving enough that beginners can progress without getting hammered by chop, while freestylers get a reliable platform to work on unhooked tricks and sliders. This is not a big-wave venue — if you're hunting swell, you'll need to look elsewhere along the coast — but as a flat-water freestyle and learning spot, it genuinely delivers. The usable wind arc runs from west-northwest through to east-northeast (295°–85°), which means the dominant trade wind direction sits comfortably within the kite window. The side-onshore angle is forgiving: you can work upwind without getting pushed too far off the beach, and the layout avoids the awkward exit angles you'd get in a more enclosed bay. Hazards are what you'd expect from a popular beach spot. The flat-water zone can get busy on good wind days, so launching and landing with attention to the crowd around you is standard practice. Keep an eye on tidal movement along the shoreline, which can shift the usable beach width through the day. On facilities, Iguapé is genuinely well-served. Kite schools are well represented in the area — AERA - Escola De Kitesurf - Instrutor Ratinho, Clube do Kite, Kite Zone School, and Fandas Surf Kite School all operate here — so rental gear and instruction are accessible if you need them.
