About Praia do Presidio

Praia do Presidio is a remote, undeveloped beach on the Ceará coast between Uruaú and Aracati, east of Fortaleza. It is not a kite hub — there are no schools, no rental shops, no cafés, and no crowd. What it has is consistent E-to-NE trade wind, a coastal launch that sets you up perfectly for a downwind run, and the kind of empty water that is increasingly rare on the northeast Brazil circuit. The trade winds here arrive side-onshore, delivering a clean cross-to-onshore angle that keeps the kite window comfortable and holds you upwind of the beach while you ride. Typical conditions run 16–24 knots, which puts most riders squarely in twin-tip territory for a steady, connected session. The usable kite window spans 315° to 135°, giving solid margin either side of the dominant northeasterly direction. The geography sets the spot up as an excellent downwind departure point. You can launch here and work the coast with the trades at your shoulder, covering real distance along an unspoiled shoreline. Closer inshore the water stays relatively flat — good for riders who want a controlled ride without chasing swell. Further out, the open Atlantic builds chop and gives more to work with. Because there is no infrastructure here, arriving self-sufficient is not a recommendation — it is the condition. Bring your own water, food, a full pump, a repair kit, and a spare bar line at minimum. There is no resupply within easy reach and no one on the beach to help if something goes wrong. That isolation is also the point: on a solid trade wind day, you may have this stretch entirely to yourself. Reaching the beach typically involves navigating coastal tracks, so a vehicle with some ground clearance helps. Arrive early — the Ceará trade wind tends to build through the morning and can run strong through the afternoon. If you are coming from the Fortaleza direction, factor in buffer time for road conditions east of the city. This is a spot for independent riders who are comfortable self-launching, self-rescuing, and managing a session without support on the beach. Beginners without solo experience should not attempt it alone. For intermediates and above who want a raw, wind-reliable stretch of coast without the usual beach scene, Praia do Presidio delivers straight: no frills, good wind, and space to ride.
