About Parajuru

Parajuru sits on Ceará's northeastern coast, a quiet fishing village about 130 kilometres east of Fortaleza. The beach faces NNE, which sets up the E-to-SE trade wind at a textbook cross-onshore angle — enough forward drive to work the full length of the beach, enough cross-component to keep the launch and landing safely parallel to the shore. From July through January that trade arrives at 16–28 knots on most days, with peak-season wind probability nudging 95%. That kind of reliability is not common, and it's what puts Parajuru on serious kite travellers' maps. The drive east from Fortaleza takes a couple of hours. The village is small, fishing-oriented, and completely unhurried — there's no strip of beach bars and kite schools competing for your attention. That's the trade-off: the water is genuinely uncrowded, typically shared with only a handful of riders, but you arrive more self-sufficient than you would at a larger resort town. The water character changes with the tide, which is what makes this spot interesting. At low tide, offshore reefs back the beach and expose flat-water sandbank lagoons — warm, shallow, and smooth. These are excellent for intermediate progression: you can drill transitions, work on jumps, or just run fast long reaches without fighting chop. When the tide rises and covers the reefs, wave energy moves through and the session shifts register entirely. Small to medium waves open up a bump-and-jump or proper wave-riding option depending on the day's swell and wind angle. The usable wind window runs from 275° to 95°, so the reliable E-to-SE trade sits comfortably inside it during season. Outside the Jul–Jan window the trade fades considerably — there are still wind days, but consistency drops and you cannot plan a dedicated kite trip around them. On skill level: the cross-onshore trade and flat lagoons make this genuinely accessible for intermediates who can already water-start and ride upwind confidently. The wave section at high tide asks for more — comfortable powered riding and some wave awareness. Beginners should arrive with instruction, because the village is remote enough that self-rescue competence matters for everyone on the water. For accommodation, Maré Alta Brasil and Pousada e Restaurante Lual do Parajuru are both local options close to the beach. Hotel Vila Jardim has a restaurant on site if you need a meal. The village is small, so factor that into your planning — this is not a place where you will find a fully-stocked kite shop around the corner.
