Praia da Daniela sits at the northern tip of Florianópolis island, tucked just west of the upscale Jurerê Internacional neighbourhood. The beach faces northwest across the Baía Norte, and when the NE or N wind fills in — as it does reliably from September through December — it arrives side-onshore, giving riders clean, cross-body conditions from the moment the kite goes up. The headland that anchors the northern end of the beach works in your favour when the wind swings more northerly. It carves out a natural pocket of shelter that smooths the entry zone for launching and takes the edge off the close-in chop. Step out past that sheltered band and you're riding open bay water with a long fetch stretching south — a noticeably different feel from the protected shallows near the launch. Daniela is the traditional starting point for the Floripa downwind run, a point-to-point route that traces the coast of Florianópolis island south toward Campeche. If that run is on your list, this is where logistics get sorted: car shuttles, board selection, and a conditions read along the full route before you commit. It is a commitment once you are moving, so use the time on the launch beach to make sure the wind is reading steadily along the whole corridor, not just locally strong at the put-in. The usable wind arc runs from 290° through to 70°, covering the NE and N quadrant that drives the spot's best sessions. Side-onshore orientation makes for clean water starts and a forgiving drift back to the beach — a reassuring setup when you are learning a new venue. Wind during the prime season typically runs in the 15–25 knot range, making the spot workable across skill levels, though newcomers to open-water sessions will find the lower end of that range a more comfortable introduction. There are no listed facilities at the beach itself, so arrive self-sufficient. No rental shop or school is operating at the spot; the nearest services are back toward Jurerê Internacional. Bring water, sun protection, and your own repair kit. The bay setting keeps conditions calmer than Florianópolis's exposed ocean-facing beaches, and the water is warm through the September–December window. Boat traffic in the Baía Norte is real and worth tracking, particularly on downwind runs when you are covering ground fast. September through December is the prime window; outside this period wind consistency drops and sessions become less predictable.
