Preijó sits in a flat-water lagoon about three kilometres east of Jericoacoara village, along the coastline of Ceará in northeast Brazil. If you've spent time riding the main Jericoacoara beach and found yourself wanting flatter water and fewer kiters around you, Preijó is the straightforward answer. Getting out there typically means a buggy — the tracks between Jericoacoara and Preijó aren't suited to standard vehicles, so arrange a transfer or rent a buggy in the village before you head out. It's part of the rhythm of riding out here. Once you arrive, the flat water is immediately apparent. This isn't a beach break with chop — Preijó is a lagoon where the surface stays calm and predictable. That makes it an excellent choice for foil riders who want clean glide without interference, and for freestyle kiters who need a reliable surface to land moves on. If you ride foil, this lagoon is worth prioritising over the main beach for exactly that reason. The calm conditions also give you more room to focus on technique rather than managing variable water. The wind arrives from the east and northeast, typically in the 18–30 knot range with a side-onshore angle. That direction is forgiving at launch — you're not fighting a dead onshore that traps you against the shore, and you have room to work the lagoon and exit at various points rather than battling back to one fixed spot. The usable kite window runs from 285° to 75°, covering the dominant E/NE direction comfortably. When the trades are running, Preijó delivers. The spot suits intermediate and advanced riders best. Flat water plus consistent trade winds is a strong setup for progression — handle passes, foil confidence, or just clocking clean mileage in reliable conditions. The side-onshore wind gives you multiple points along the lagoon edge to work with for entry and exit, which takes some pressure off compared to a narrower beach launch. Crowds here are noticeably lighter than on the main Jericoacoara beach. The access requirements filter out casual traffic, so you'll usually have good space on the water — especially valuable if you've been navigating around other kiters at Jeri's main beach during busy sessions.
