Sabunike is a northwest-facing sandy bay on the Dalmatian coast, sitting roughly 15 kilometres south of Zadar airport. It's one of the more accessible kite destinations on this stretch of Croatia — easy to reach from Zadar, with a sandy beach and a broad shallow water area that makes it genuinely forgiving for riders still building their fundamentals. The bay runs on two distinct wind regimes that split the kiting calendar neatly in two. Summer brings the Maestral, a northwest sea breeze that typically runs 12 to 20 knots — predictable in onset, consistent through the afternoon, and well-suited to the learner crowd the spot attracts. Winter hands over to the Bora, a strong northeasterly that can deliver powerful days from November through March. Both winds sit within the 225°–45° usable kite window here, so the spot is productive across a wide range of conditions depending on the season. The shallow water is the main draw and it's a genuine asset. Beginners can wade out, recover their kite, and practise body dragging without immediately finding themselves in deep water.
