About Boka Sami

Boka Sami sits tucked into Curaçao's rugged northwestern corner, near the small settlement of Westpunt. From Willemstad it's around 45 minutes by road — long enough to feel genuinely remote once you arrive. The bay is sheltered, the scenery is spectacular, and the kiting, when conditions line up, is some of the best flat water you'll find on the island. The approach follows the main road out to Westpunt, and you'll know you're close when the landscape opens up and the cliffs come into view. Parking near the water is straightforward. Marfa's Good Hangout sits about 73 metres from the spot — essentially at the beach — making it a useful landmark for rigging up and grabbing a drink before or after your session. Snack Indycha and Richinel Cafe Restaurant are both within a few hundred metres if you want food close by. The bay itself is sheltered, which is exactly why the water can get so flat. What creates that flatness is also what makes this a spot for experienced riders: Curaçao's east trade wind wraps around the headland at Westpunt and enters the bay from a side-offshore angle. The wind is real, the water can be glassy, and conditions are genuinely good when they're on — but the offshore component means a mistake here has consequences. If you're not fully comfortable with self-rescue and the demands of side-offshore kiting, look elsewhere on the island for your sessions. The usable wind window runs from 225° through to 45°, a wide arc that reflects how the trade wind can shift in direction as it rounds the headland. On a clean trade wind day the flow into the bay can be consistent and well-powered. On other days conditions can be light or confused. This is a spot you read on arrival, not one you plan around a forecast alone. Riders who know what they're doing will find fast, flat water, clear Caribbean surroundings, and a level of solitude that's rare closer to the capital. The scenery is genuinely striking — rocky headlands, turquoise water, a bay that feels untouched. Facilities near the water are limited but cover the basics. Marfa's Good Hangout and Snack Indycha are essentially at the beach, with Richinel Cafe Restaurant a few minutes' walk further. For something with more atmosphere after your session, Daaibooi Beach Bar is around 3 kilometres out, and Karakter Beach Club & Lounge Restaurant is a similar distance. Come prepared — stock up in Willemstad before you leave, make sure your gear is dialled before the drive, and be honest about whether conditions look right for your level. The remoteness is part of the appeal, but it also means you're on your own if things go sideways.
