About Dahab Lagoon — Advanced (Area 4)

Area 4 sits at the southern end of Dahab's famous lagoon system, tucked against the Gulf of Aqaba shoreline in South Sinai, Egypt. This is the dedicated advanced section — where the kiting crowd separates from the windsurfers and the riding properly opens up. Dahab itself is reached by road through the Sinai Peninsula, with the lagoon stretching along the coast north of the main town. Area 4 is the furthest-south slot in the lagoon's kiting progression — you launch downwind of the windsurfing zones, and that separation is built into how the beach operates. Be clear on one rule before you rig: the windsurfing section enforces a no-kite restriction from 09:00 to 15:00. That is not a suggestion. Plan your sessions either side of that window — early morning or afternoon — and you will have no issues. Arrive mid-morning expecting to fly and you will be turned around. The wind is a Gulf of Aqaba classic. A NNE funnel channels down through the gulf and arrives at the lagoon in a consistent, sometimes punchy stream running 15–30 knots. The usable kite arc covers 0° through 180°, giving you a wide northerly-to-southerly window, but at the stronger end of that range this spot demands respect. The funnelling effect can push conditions upward quickly, so reading the day before you commit to a big kite is worth the five minutes it takes. The water is the headline. The lagoon delivers extensive flat water — this is a jump and freestyle spot in the best sense of the phrase. You are not hunting through chop for a clean window; the flat surface is the whole canvas. Advanced riders will find genuine room to send the kite, work on their jump technique, and link freestyle moves without constantly resetting. Sessions here can actually be about progression rather than survival. Facilities in the area are solid. Kite schools including Happy Kite, Harry Nass Dahab Windsurf, Kitesurf and Wingfoil Center 1, Jeep Kitesurfing, and Kite Adventure Dahab are all based nearby, meaning coaching and gear rental are accessible without much effort. For food, Alcapone, Beit Karim (formerly the Everyday Cafe original), and King Chicken offer close options. If you need accommodation, the Dahab Lagoon Club & Resort is on the doorstep, and the Beach Bar at the Dyarna Dahab hotel offers a beachside wind-down after a big session. This is a spot for riders who are already confident in stronger, variable conditions and who want quality flat water to use those skills. If you are still consolidating water starts or need a forgiving environment to build confidence, the lagoon system has other sections better matched to that stage. Area 4 earns its advanced label honestly.
