Baie de Carteau sits in the western fringe of the Golfe de Fos, where the flat coastal plains of Provence meet the northern Mediterranean. This is low country — wide skies, little elevation, and a horizon that makes conditions visible from a long way out. Getting here from the main road means passing through the industrial zone that defines this corner of Provence.
